i have both .. and i do find that my migraines are much less over the past 5 or 6 months...but im not sure if its because my levels are better or if its the meds im on. I take lopressor to keep heart rate down but it is also a beta blocker which of course helps with the migraines .. hope it works out well for you.

fyi.. i was getting bad migraines every 4-6 weeks ( the kind that keep you in bed for 2 days) to having 2 bad migraines in the last 5 months.

thanks nhdawn. we are a little different as I get 14-23 migraines a month and I''ve taken betablockers before and they only work for 6 months.

I'm hoping for the miracle that if I get my thyroid removed then the migraines go away. I know, that would be quite the miracle, but I will accept any reduction for any reason.

Maybe you reduction in migraines is not from the betablockers (another longshot)

I had never had migraines before and then, as it turns out, altho I didn't know I had Graves' at the time, I started getting migraines as I got sicker. And the visual disturbances got worse as well, so I would have a hard time figuring out if I was getting a migraine or just dealing with the visual problems. I had RAI in May. And started Levoxyl in July. I don't have migraines anymore. And the visual disturbances have decreased significantly. I took Lopressor for my heart for quite awhile while they got my thyroid to chill out with Methimazole. I'm not sure if this helps. But on an encouraging note, I feel a ton better since the RAI and Levoxyl. Like better than I've felt in a few years. I hope you get some peace! Migraines are very nerve wracking for me. Its such a powerless feeling when I know one is coming.

My migraines have increased considerably in the last 9 months and I''ve been feeling just miserable. Lordy I hope it is the Graves that is causing it and after some treatment I can have a life back.
