Hi all,
Everything is going pretty well except this pesky BP doesn't want to cooperate on the systolic side and Dr has decided we need to do something. Despite a healthy diet and I exercise a lot - 6 to 7 days a week 1-2 hours each day with lots of cardio. Anyway, I am one of the few who cannot tolerate a beta blocker and we just tried Clonidine and I didn't sleep over 2 hours a night for a week so on to another type - we are trying lisinopril and wondered what your thoughts are and if there is any interferance with the Graves. I am starting on 5 mg a day as I am so very sensitive to most meds, I insisted lets start low, we can always go up rather then being over medicated all the time......:))
BTW I did get the MMI lowered to 1.25 per day as the FT4 went down from .93 to .81 and the FT3 went down from 2.7 to 2.4 in 6 weeks. The TSH went from .85 back up to 1.81, Decided to use language Dr's seem to understand - like I have no energy, etc etc and yes I exaggerated a bit but seems to work because we are immediately oh, well, we need to go to every other day at 2.5 and I asked how about 1.25 every day???? So there we are at the moment.
Thanks for the input on the BP meds. I have cut salt/sodium and all
the "normal" things and the systolic just stays up in the 130-140 range while the dystolic is in the 70's go figure and heart rate is in the 50's and low 60's. The clonidine did lower my heart rate to 44 - thought that was a bit low.....:)))

People with HypOthyroidism tend to have higher BP problem when their Free Ts are too low.
Hope you can get the Free Ts to come up and at mid range or higher to see if this will solve the BP problem.

As a question for me: I would be curious how this mechanism of HyPO vs hypertension works. It is also a sign of HyPER, especially if it is the systolic. Just curious.
