I am 59 can i take on a ten year old with behavoural problems ?. I am soon going to be on my own. i have to work full time to keep my house . i am worried that i will not be able to control him and that if i cant make a success of this that he will feel even more let down. but at the same time it is not good for him staying with his father who is not coping and making his child unhappy.
i also feel quite resentful, i have raised 4 children of my own, i am tired and the thought of brining up a teenager again fills me with dread. but he is my flesh and blood. am i selfish to want to have some freedom for myself ? but at the same time i cannot imagine not taking my GS on.

Jay's podcasts are really good. I watch them on YouTube for free. Today, I watched his video about motivation. In fact, I've been watching a few videos on this subject. Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. Does anyone here have a comfort item you carry with you when you go out? For example this is my doll, Annie, and I've recently been bringing her with me when I run errrands flor have an appointment. Holding her comforts me. I've bought her clothes, crocheted for her, I recently bought a personalized blanket with her name on it. Just wondering if anyone else has a comfort item.

I'm old enough to check you for diaper rash and inherited my 3 GKs when my youngest son and his wife were killed in a car wreck in September, 2019. I most often call them, "The Foster Kids" because the standard grandmother platitudes are a painful reminder of my loss. I don't know which I miss more: being a standard grandmother or retirement. Can I handle a second parenting career? I'll be 84 when the baby graduates from high school. Got any fashion tips for an 80 year old soccer mom? At present, these children don't have allot of other options.
But that is me and this is your thread. Keep venting, Cottontail. Finding answers starts with finding the question.
Gentle empathy. . . Listening. . .
I'm convinced it's the choice making that's so difficult. Actually, when the choices are made, we then wrestle with them. That's the anxiety part, always telling us the choice made was the wrong one.
My son has been away a week and has not once asked how his child is. he is not interested on how i have juggled working and looking after his child. i dread sending my GS back. he seems so happy now.
Gentle empathy on losing those retirement dreams. Will I ever get my turn? I still wanna a river pirate when I grow up and still miss my rivers something fierce. And here I am, stuck in the Dust Bowl again.
If you dread sending him back and he seems content where he is, is there any chance of the two of you discovering the world together?
Just wondering. . .
