Grandparents Raising Children Support Group
This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Join the support group to find support, share your experience, and get advice from other members.
I like long brunches in Center City with friends, maybe a Mimosa or Bloody Mary, political chatter, talk about books, the news, stroll downtown, etc.
I love gourmet dinners with friends, at each other's home or in a "new" restaurant. I love trying new cuisines.
I love sitting quietly and reading a good book. I love sitting quietly and listening to music (laid-back world, jazz, folk, etc.).
I love gardening on summer mornings before the sun comes up.
It's Friday night and my friends are standing in some pretentious art gallery, sipping white wine and saying pretentious things. And afterwards they'll all go out to dinner at some chi-chi place with frilly little excuses for tacos, sprinkled with cilantro, and entrees that have some sort of frou-frou mango salsa with citrus sauce. OK, so that all sounds really disgusting (HAHAHA) but I miss it!!!!!
So what am I doing tonight? Going to a local carnival with rides that make kids (and me) sick, cotton candy that gets all over everything, stupid penny-pitch games, loud music and bright lights. I hate carnivals. Detest carnivals. But the kids saw the Ferris wheel last week and insisted that we all go.
So instead of cabernet, I'm opening a different "whine" -- WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Speaking of wine.... visiting little local wineries is one of my fav things to do. While I can't do it as often, I still do it. Little gs just gets dragged along. Auctions as well. Granted, it isn't as fun, especially with a few really rolicking temper tantrums thrown in, but there are times I have truly been able to enjoy it! ;)
One thing I told CHPS when I said I'd raise him is that HE had to fit into MY life. That I gave up my life for 30 years for my kids and I wasn't going to do it again. That he's welcome along for the ride, but I won't do different things just because I have him. So far that's pretty much how it's been. I take him everywhere and do everything with him. And when gp actually takes him for a day, all I can do is sleep!!!! :(
