GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
Also, when you switch medicines for GERD are you also doing the diet change that goes w/ them? like no caffeine no spice, no tobacco, no fried or fatty foods, chocolate no tomatoes, grapefruit or other ascorbic acids. I know some ppl w/ GERD like my mom had to gradually cut back on the fried foods, caffeine grapefruits etc before she was able to cut them out completely.
Also, have any foods like organics or soy products helped? My mom drinks a lot of Soy milk and Almond milk and really likes it. Also, I hate Vitamin D so I drink 2% milk. Watering down products also helps me too. Like drinking soda w/ water or eating a bowl or cup of ice cream w/ a half of cup of milk in it.
Please also be sure that you aren't taking too many vitamins in addition to your regular meds because too much iron or sodium in the body can make your stomach upset too. At least that was the case for me.
GOOD LUCK, I hope you are able to find some relief soon :D
I am going to ask the doctor about Nexium and Protonix today.
