I am going through a really bad flare up at the moment. It started after my holiday when I got burning pain on the right hand side under my ribs (does GERD cause pain there as I normally get it on my left hand side). That went but then I had the flu and then a cold. This week I have been told I was iron deficient so I took a very low dose of Spatone iron tonic. That burnt my stomach really badly. That was two days ago.

I am now trying to eat iron rich foods but my stomach is burning everytime I eat. For lunch I had a spinach, beetroot and beef salad, with a bit of cheese (I am normally ok with that) and half a yoghurt (I couldn't finish the yoghurt because I suddenly felt so full like I had eaten a house!). Straight after that the burning began. It was honestly like someone had started a fire in my stomach and the nausea was really strong. I gobbled down four gaviscon tablets and went for a walk to try and burp (tmi I know!). It went off a bit but is still there. Which item of food do you think caused it? I had the same salad yesterday and had a similar, though not as bad, reaction.

Do you think I have given myself Gastritis?

hi,well that sounds like your gallbladder,l had mine out laproscopically in january,you need anltrasound to see if thats what it is ,good luck to you,hope you find answers.

JENNIE LOU I,am having the same thing right now to. mine feels like my ribs hurt. i have benn under lot of stress had to put my dog down. that broke my heart. then we drove 8 hrs. to see snow i did,nt eat nothing every time i get upset my stomack secreats lots of acid regurtation real better. i try to east soft boiled eggs on toast, something soothing to the stomack, all those vegables have fiber and can irratate bowels and stomack i eat rice, crackers that helps absorbe the acid also take zantax get it over the counter. it works pretty good. it sucks i have pain right in upper stomack in the middle. does,nt feel to bad right now. also chicken noodle soup helps anthing thing soothing, tums are good to. i have had stomack problems for years everytime i get real up set. 7 up is good help you belch. well i hope it gets better but i have the smae thing. don,t eat vegables just hurts your stomack and causes heart burn. zzz

I'm actually starting to wonder if I don't have enough acid in my stomach. Have been on Nexium 40mg for three years now and it is what caused the iron deficiency. Wondering if it is causing all sorts of other troubles. Maybe I was always low on acid seeing as the PPIs and antacids don't really help me

I think it's the yogurt. Try it without it and see if it helps. My doctor's office told me not to eat yogurt when I asked them about bloating. Now, occasionally I eat a teaspoon of yogurt. Yogurt has Lactic acid and That might be causing it. Good Luck.

Nexium can cause as many problems as it seems to help. It does cause a person to lose too much acidity in their system and it also cause bone loss. I would talk to your doctor. you have been on these way too long, in my opinion.

Dear JennieLou: It just sounds to me that salad did you in.alot of fiber I think . what is Gastritis???? I have heart burn stomack aches usually nlot from food but (((((STRESS, ANXIETY))))) WHICH CAUSES THE STOMACK TO CONTRACT AND SECREAT ALOT OF ACID. I take Zantax JUst over the counter, the perscription Zantax is just to strong for me. I have Ibs my bowels bother me stomack. it sucks I think I know with me you want to let your stomack settle down. I usually eat, rice, small amount of baked chicken , applesauce, oats, 7up. take my Zantax baked potato but no salads with oily salad dressing. oh also what is good is a soft boiled egg with rye bread and small glass non fat milk. right now my stomack feels pretty good last week it was a burning mess and belching, regurgation acid up with a little food in it it , burning. and I got a headache but scared to take my Excidren. and also when you go to Drs all they do is give you more pills. "ugh"

Although a PPI like Nexium really helped my GERD, I took it for about 7 years and wound up with osteoporosis, which is a side affect, in my hip.
