3 years ago when I had my first flare up of Gerd I was given Pantoprazole. At the time I didn't think it worked but I managed to get over the bad flare up and go back to eating normally (didn't get another flare up for 3 years!), so maybe it did.

If it was Protonix then yes. It really helped me a lot, especially at night time since that is when my GERD is usually worse. Aside from diet change I only had to quit eating up to 2 hrs before bedtime. :)

When I was first diagnosed, my doctor put me on Protonix. It didn't work for me, and within 2 weeks, he had me on Aciphex. Now I take Prilosec (omeprazole(. All of the PPIs are so similar, and I think you just have to experiment to see which one works the best for you.

none of them seems to work for me. I have been on prevacid, am on nprilosec atm and was on protonix before as I said. I might go and ask for that again and give it a try.

Pantoprazole is the generic for Protonix. I've used both forms before, and Zegerid, and Omeprazole. I am now on Nexium and it is working for me. I agree with Sue825, you just have to figure out which PPI works best for you.

Been on it for 6 years, and works best for me. At first made me pretty sick, but now am completely dependent. Tried aciphex and nexium, but seemed less potent or something. I think just eating very small meals and no food whatsoever after 6pm makes the real difference. I have a huge hiatal hernia, so i'll be on this crap forever or until i have a successful surgery, which i hear most of the time patients end up still on the ppi drugs anyways. So, no more pizza.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
