GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.

So what is causing my current stomach issues: STRESS is the killer! I have a 20year old son...do I need to say anything more :-) Not new to Gerd, hiatal hernia, acid reflux, or general chest pain. When i get the 'feeling"..I'm ready to run to the nearest bathroom. Like today at library, last week at rite aide store. The worst is when I'm in bed...searching for the position where my stomach doesn't feel horrid...I sleep with a plastic bowl by my bed...just incase. I've taken over counter, nexium, Prilosec, generic brands not to mention the regular tums/rolaids for at least 45 yrs(63 now). In 2014 I had my left kidney removed due to cancer, right kidney is in stage 3 ckd...Ok got all the horror stuff out. Since my dear kidney left my body, I live a new and different life and diet. If I stay away from coffee, I allow myself 12oz through day...none after 4pm. Drink half my body weight in water each day...by ounces...weigh 120, drink 60oz of water. I drink my water at room temp, no fluids after 8pm..bed around 11pm. No acidic foods, tomatoes, grapefruits, no bananas, no red meets (I can eat small lean portion 2x's a month)...eating chicken,(no skin) turkey, and fish, portion...the size of my palm. Brown rice, very little 'white flour', lots of celery. Vitamins, I can't take because of potassium, magnesium, and iron. So I take B complex, with C and vit D, 1000mg. Happy Kidney. And the Really Good News! Since I've been drinking fluids, watching my diet, I Don't take any 24 hour medicine.Yes, 2 tums, about an hour before I go to bed. If you have been on the over counter meds for a long time, or if you take advil, Tylenol, motrin, alieve...any of those meds wreaks havoc with your kidney health. My kidney doctor does allow me to take zantac 75 if I'm desperate...like I am feeling tonight...so extra fluids to replace and wash out of system for me!Thanks for the apple cider tip :-)Accepting suggestions for stress reduction:son :-)Take care, ML

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...
Carboplatin is a cisplatin analog and is less nephrotoxic than cisplatin. In a prospective, longitudinal, single-center, cohort study of children followed up for more than 10 years after cisplatin or carboplatin therapy, older age at treatment was found to be the major risk factor for nephrotoxicity, especially for patients receiving carboplatin, while cisplatin dose schedule and cumulative carboplatin dose were also important predictors of toxicity. Platinum nephrotoxicity did not change significantly over 10 years.[3] The combination of carboplatin/ifosfamide may be associated with more renal damage than the combination of cisplatin/ifosfamide.[3,4,5] As with ototoxicity, however, additional follow-up in larger numbers of survivors treated with carboplatin must be evaluated before potential renal toxicity can be better defined.
Ifosfamide can also cause glomerular and tubular toxicity, with renal tubular acidosis, and Fanconi syndrome, a proximal tubular defect characterized by impairment of resorption of glucose, amino acids, phosphate, and bicarbonate. Ifosfamide doses greater than 60 g/m2 to 100 g/m2, age younger than 5 years at time of treatment, and combination with cisplatin and carboplatin increase the risk of ifosfamide-associated renal tubular toxicity.[6,7,8] Abnormalities in glomerular filtration are less common, and when found, are usually not clinically significant. More common are abnormalities with proximal tubular function greater than distal tubular function, although the prevalence of these findings is uncertain, and further study of larger cohorts with longer follow-up is required. kidney, fluids are huge need for my other kidney that I have stage 3 ckd. I'm trying to figure out how to get more fluids...64oz per day of water/other fluids. Problem: bending over/gerd I get sick/dehydrated bad for kidney. See my nephrologist next week and hoping for some help the naturopath way rather than medicines.
Take care, ML
