GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
I've tried acidophiles and they didn't help me at all. I do eat crackers often. I keep a large box of Ritz at all times. I usually munch on some Ritz or cereal to absorb the acid, sometimes I have a sandwich or something. I'm always like, "I need something bready!" My boyfriend doesn't understand that and ate all of my crackers the other day. I was so upset when I needed them.
What exactly is aloe juice? How does it taste?
Lemonade always made my stomach worse instead of better. And I can't stand tea. Do you have any low-cost stand-ins for any of those?
As I understand it lemonade turns alkaline in your stomach reducing acid. However as I am sure you;ve heard many acid sufferers are actually producing too little acid. Have you tried apple cider vinegar? Makes my stomach go crazy but many people swear by it-worth a shot.
Aloe juice isn't bad, you can mix it with any juice you want-the gel is a bit worse but some like the way it coats and soothes on the way down-so personal preference.
Aciphex caused me anxiety that I though would send me screaming insane. The rest weren't good but I hate that one in particular.
@TJ and even if it's not the stuff coats and helps with digestion and is all natural so we can do no harm with it!

The main thing for me is not too eat too late at night, avoid too acid foods, and too much fat. Nothing fried...ever.
