Hi everyone,
I just joined this group and would like to introduce myself. I am a 29-year-old from New Jersey, and I joined because I'd like to start communicating with more LGBT people in a safe setting.
I am looking to meet people who can give me advice and who would just like to talk. I am afraid to reach out on some of the more popular meeting sites online because they seem so focused on sex and relationships. What I'd like is friendship. I have no gay friends I can talk to in real life, and I'd like more people with whom I can share.
I'm generally shy, which makes meeting new people very difficult. I am trying to overcome that, but it is not easy. It is my hope that I can do so through meeting people here.
I'm looking forward to meeting and talking to some of you soon.

I too am very shy, I started posting here, then i joined a meetup group and went to a meeting which led to a social networking event at a bar. Not that i really networked but at least i got my feet wet and headed in the right direction.
