Hey. Okay, so for the past few months, I've been questioning my sexuality. I'm twelve (so yes, I lied about my age by not even half a year) and I think I've almost gotten things sorted out. At first, I thought I was bi, then les, then bi, then pan, then poly, then back to pan, then poly, and so on and so forth. Now, I think I've finally settled on lesbian. I'm pretty sure. I have a girlfriend (as far as middle school dating should get) who is also my best friend on this side of the world and I'm pretty happy.
The problem is, I think my parents are homophobic. They already aren't too fond of me. What should I do? I can't keep this up, bottled inside me. I'm thinking I should ask my mom after school one day what she thinks and give her some reasons I'm supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and tell her I only brought it up because there were kids arguing about it on the bus and I wanted her to see if my aurguments were strong enough to make them quit (which is a very legit thing to do). I'm also debating whether or not I should tell my brother. He's 16, going on 17 in February and he has lots of gay friends. His best friend is a lesbian, so I know he'll be accepting, but he hates me and we don't have a good bond.
But my problems don't end there. At school, I am surrounded by aggressive homophobes. Word got out that I'm gay and now I get so many yelled or whispered homophobic comments in the halls, I get pushed around more often, and I get more legitimate death threats. I want to talk to my gay homeroom/math teacher, but he doesn't like me too much. Or maybe my lesbian band teacher, but we don't have a good bond.
All that said, I need advice. This stress and my sea of thoughts are killing me! I cant take it much longer! Somebody please help me. Remember, I'm still a bit sexually confused too, not just about coming out to my family and dealing with bullies! Thanks for reading.
I know how you are feeling right now. I'm going through the same thing you are. I'm confused sexually about myself too. I've pretty much kept to myself and have been able to talk to some of my friends about how I'm feeling. It's hard to talk to people about how you are truly feeling about yourself, I know. If you are getting death threats from people just because they know that you are gay, you should tell your parents about it and report it to the police so they can do something about it. When I finally figured out that there was a possibility of me being lesbian, I was in either my junior year or senior year of high school. In my senior year of high school, I needed a counselor to talk to because I had told my mom, one day, that there are some days where I would feel suicidal. I also needed a counselor because I knew that I couldn't talk to my mom or dad about things. I'm now on my second year of college and I know for sure that I'm either lesbian or bisexual or a polygamist. If you feel that you can't talk to your parents about how you feel, then ask your parents if you can start seeing a counselor so you can at least have someone to talk to about things that are going on in your life.
