This is a very serious question for me. There is only one person that knows that i'm a lesbian right now and she took it very okay. i have many many friends and all of them have know idea. at lunch we talk bout boys and dating and how we want our first time to be, and i always have to make up this senerio about a guy, and it makes me feel like a lier. my school is very homophobic and i do have a gay friend but he's been out since grade 5. I actually have this one friend in particular i dont want to lose cause i kinda like her and i dont want her to be freaked out.

What should i do?!?!

Your true friends will not abandon you when you come out. Just know that. As to before you come out, I'd test the waters somehow, so you know it might be okay to come out in your group of friends.... I know you said your school was homophobic, but I'd still test it. (Gay TV shows, anyone?)

But yes, if you don't feel comfortable coming out, or if you feel threatened DO NOT come out! It's better to be safe and unthreatened in your environment--in the closet--than out and harassed.

And if you do come out and they get "freaked out," just be tolerant, and allow a little time to acclimate them to the idea of you being a lesbian...

I'm in like the same exact boat that you are in but the dude version lol. What I'm doing is making a list of people who i need to tell and i think will take it the best, ive only come out to one person but it made me feel loads better! You need to also do this at your own pace because i threw up like 12 times because i was gunna come out to some people b4 i was ready! You need to keep moving forward no matter how small the step is because you need to keep the momentum moving, but only tell people you can absolutely trust!!! Good luck we both need it

It might be difficult to do, but trust me when I say that most people are more accepting than you might think and if they can't accept you for you then that is too bad, but it's who you are and a good friend should support you and love you for who you are. I know it might be especially weird coming out to a close friend of the same gender, but take me for example, I don't romantically like lesbians but I do love them. As far as I am concerned a good friend is a good friend regardless of orientation, and with any luck your friend will feel that way too.

i dont i started coming out about two years ago and i started feeling alot better because i could finally be myself and not have to hide it but i was not a lesbian im bisexual so that could be a different story but you know what i would rather be myself then pretend to be someone else
