Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Just wondering if anyone has been off of work for long periods of time due to gastritis. I've been on a medical leave for 2 months and supposed to go back this weekend. I'm very nervous about it since I am still having some issues with appetite loss, but I can't afford to be off for much longer. What have all of you done?

I go to university and honestly it seems to flare up when i have major exams and projects due. it still flares up every now and then but when im under stress it just goes crazy... try not to think about it which seems to be helping alot of people. appetite loss is something we have to deal with but you know what for me appetite loss is only present in the morning . i am sure you will be fine in fact i think if you go back to work and make yourself busy you will forget about it more. if you sit at home and focus on your pain... it will make it worse trust me. all the best and i hope you feel better soon.

I've been home since mid October . Fortunately my employer has let me do some work from home . I know I'll need to go back soon for the extra money but am really concerned my stress level will rise and my stomach will get worse . I was really having a tough time balancing work and home .

I was doing casual work when I got this and wasn't available for months. I had to do half days at first. I was going ok working no more than three days per week but they axed casuals and now I'm job hunting and finding a good fit like my last jobs scares me.

hi when i first started with this i was off work for about 6 weeks in total my boss was a bit of a prat & more than once threatened to get rid of me luckily there was some redundances coming up & i managed to get 1 of these packages i now work with disabled kids & can pick & choose when i work my new employers are great & understand there will be days when i just cant work also with the adoption theyve given me a months paid leave which i wasnt entitled to

Hi - recently diagnosed with Gastritis and having a horrible time coping - what steps did you all take to get medical leave from work? What do I need from my doctor and do I have to reveal my health issue?

I was off work for a month the first time and two months the second time
Now I’m taking Amitriptyline 50 mg and I think is helping on getting some sleep at night and little bit of energy during the day.
It has been almost two months since i finished my second h- pylori treatment
And I’m still left with gastritis
I’m currently taking 60 mg of pantoprazole and Amitriptyline and I think is helping me slowly.
