Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Everything I have read says not to eat raw veg as it is too difficult to digest, I haven't tried any so not sure if they would be ok or not.
My doctor told me not to eat broccoli, cabbage etc so again not tried them, they tend to aggravate my IBS anyway so only used to eat them occasionally!
I posted a couple of days ago a recipe for healthy chips/fries, I have used the same method with carrots and courgette and they are very nice, in fact I am about to have them again this evening.
Looking forward to everyone's suggestions.
One thing is good for IBS but bad for something else. One thing is great of ulcer like cabbage juice, but that could be bad for IBS...
Can't wait for my appt wednesday to discuss the redness in my stomach that I see on the pictures she gave me.
Because I have Pancreatitis (now bad it is at this point I'm not really sure) I can't have much fat. The pancreas is responsible for digesting foods and eating too much fat can give you pain.
I have a 'green' shake every morning. I try an put as much spinach in it as I can possibly stand, cucumbers, then fruits, and a carrot and celery. I need liquid to blend it, so I add Odwalla green super food or another green drinks not made from concentrate. Now I also add Aloe Vera.
I'm wondering if raw veggies are not good for gastritis, would they be ok if they are blended into a juice ?
Sure would be nice if somebody had all the right answers....
I haven't had any luck with raw veggies since I was diagnosed nearly two years ago, but I also have not tried raw veggies in smoothies.
I tried a few fries since I was diagnosed, but even to this day, even a couple don't go well. Oh well--they're not good for me anyway--they're fried, so I now leave them alone.
I assume that corn would be a big no-no? It's one of my favourites (and I know, not one of the healthiest relative to other veggies).
What about something like kale chips? I make those for my kids and I enjoy them too.
Or roasted veggies? Is the oil ok (I don't use a ton)? A touch of balsalmic vinegar (or is that another no-no)?
