Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I'm trying to understand why so many of us get this awful pain around our ribs, especially on the left side. Is this gas? Is it a direct result of gastritis? Why??
Having MS I get something called the MS HUG which is a girdling or squeezing around the ribs and back. Sometimes other places too. It's a sensory pain... not much explanation for this. It has something to do with the placement of lesions in our brains and brain stems. But now this rib pain seems different. I have no idea what to do for it.
Any explanations?

A "flare up" for me is when the discomfort moves along the scale to pain. Everything I eat & drink hurts. More burning & burping. More bloating. I awake in the night with burning too. The only way for me to get this under control is to double my ppi for a few weeks. In the past I have made the mistake of trying to 'battle on' & my symptoms just worsen.
