A simple common cold is atrocious when you can't take any meds to relieve it. I had 3 colds last winter and they were hell while working. I can take Sudafed for the nose but it doesn't alleviate the pain and pressure.

silk - how is your Gastritis now? how long you been fighting it?

@SilkaKC: Try taking genetically altered safflower oil with high GLA percentage. Like Ibuprofen it's anti-inflammatory. It's not a pain reliever but it can reduce inflammation, and it helps people with inflamed joints and me with my inflamed dry eyes.

Amazon has it as "Ultra GLA 500" by GNC. It's also sold as a weight loss supplement called "Stay-Weight", but on a separate website.

shihonage - are you still fighitng gastritis? If so, how long has it been? From how you talk you seem to be very very knowledgable on the subject so I am curious as to why you are not cured yet and can go back and eat those foods?

there's no such thing as too much pho,i love pho. I myself am still struggling with finding a balance in my diet. Im still researching foods that will not give me pain. which seems to always be there no matter what i eat. this week im going with oatmeal and veggie sandwiches and salads for dinner... I miss condiments! all of them!

@riodemayo I went with a completely basic diet... I didnt't even try new things for quite a bit of time... But I think Sara put it best in another post. "In the beginning, stick to the foods that don't make your condition worse". I think that is good advice, because it was really hard for me in the beginning to tell what made me feel better...

When I read some of these post about foods and how you cannot eat them at this moment.....is this because you guys have been working to CURE your gastritis for only the last month or two or have you had this for an ongoing long time, like a year??? I assume their is light at the end of this tunnel and I can go back to my normal eatting. I have never been a terrible eater. I like to eat healthy for the most part, but I do like to cheat and have some good junk food and processed foods and my occassional fast food like McDs and Chik Fila.

@blh A number of people here comment on re-occurrences of the gastritis because they went back too soon to their normal diet. I think even though some feel better, they will stick on this diet longer before they get off of it, because even if you are feeling better, your stomach has not fully healed.

tummy....I do plan on staying on this diet for much longer to make sure I am cured. Maybe in a week I might start to introduce some other foods or possible condiments. Tonight I will probably just do boiled chicken an vegetables or potatoes.

lol, I just saw this :):):) I'm afraid my 3 times weekly pho habit contributed to the sorry state I ended in ... or as my asian friends teased "maybe i'm just too white"
