Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I do think too, as I've mentioned elsewhere on this forum, that besides the very important diet and herbs, or meds, that weather may play a part. Cool weather sure affects me negatively. Perhaps it does the same for others, too.
Hang in there!! Take things day by day and stick to that diet because things will pay off eventually if you work towards the goal of healing.
I sometimes think if our sore stomachs were on the outside of our bodies, we could more easily deal with the gastritis because we could see that certain things can irritate it. But because it is 'hidden' inside us, it's more difficult to deal with.
Wishing you both and everyone here well and praying for healing soon for all.
You may be surprised at how fast you will heal if tell yourself "I WILL GET BETTER", It's a good possibility we get this condition because we worry, stress and become anxious about things to much. Your body is telling you it can't handle it.
When I would get anxiety about my gastritis and it would start getting more painful, I'd go in a dark room and lay down. Then I would rub my stomach and tell it "I'm sorry I'm doing this to you. I will relax now so you can get to healing." Then I would just imagine a warm soothing light inside my stomach healing it.
It took about a month or two to get back to eating anything I wanted. But it only took about a week or two for the pain lessen quite a bit.
You can heal yourself blucille, you really can. You just have to believe it and do whatever you can to reduce your anxiety and stress.
I know it sounds impossible because you're in so much pain. Believe me, I know. But just try meditating about healing yourself, what do you have to lose? It won't be easy at first, you may even become a little more anxious when you first try it. Your mind and body wants to fight to get back to the tension because that's what it is used to. Don't give in to it.
Also, when I was a chef, we would have to taste our food constantly to make sure it tasted good. That can be A LOT of calories to consume if you're doing that all day. So we would taste it and then spit it out. Now, not being able to eat anything good while we're having a flare up really stinks and makes you feel deprived. So, every now and then I'd take a few bites of a choclocate cake, cookie, lasagna, just whatever I really craved at the moment and then spit it out. That may sound gross or eating disorderish but if you're just not able to eat, I don't think it is. As long as you're not doing full meals and doing it a lot it's not a problem.
I think it also helped me not to fear food once I was able to eat. My mind wasn't conditioned to equate food with pain.
You will get better, you will not be in pain for years because you are in control.
I hope this helps.
