Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I had Helibactor Pylori thats how i ended up with gastritis, the gerd i dont know if i had that before, since i had a lot of heartburn so i stopped smoking and drinking about 4-5 years ago. Then i only had a few problems with OJ, chocolate, fried food and cakes if i had to much so, i mostly stayed away from that as much as possible so i was good to go until 5 months ago .....as for the Treatment for H pylori, it wasnt nice but its not that bad , the bad part was it didnt make me feel better at the end im still stuck with the same symptoms if not worse ....so im not really sure if the H pylori really was the cause of the symptoms to begin with, or just something they found along with the rest at the time .....right now im working on getting some more tests done, im done with this waiting until they decide its time. I will try to push for as many tests as i can cause im really done feeling sick all the time......i will go back to gaviscon tabletts they can keep the Gi cocktail ,its just like all the other liquid stuff and it makes my throat feel numb and i think it tastes like that welch grape drink (YUCK) i dont like that. Since i started the new meds i got pain in my back, i didnt have before so one of the things is messing with me ....and i feel like a walking pharmacy not a good thing :)
As for the treatment, please know, I suffered all the way through up until the last moment when I finally told I was healed. Part of that was another medical condition- but a good part of the pain was the gastritis. It takes a long time for the damage to repair itself, even with all the good things we add into the mix to help the healing along. Try to stay positive and remember to take it one day at a time. Eventually you will get this all sorted out, in both cases and hopefully begin to get better.
