Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Hi, How do you know what to actualy call your illness,? they seem so close to each other, ie IBS or Gastritis or Heart burn. I seem to have IBS and sometimes get Heartburn. Any one cofussed like me?

No , not confused . I have ibs and gastritis . I definitely can tell the difference . I also get some reflux . All of them feel different . My ibs causes issues with my bowels . The gastritis is pain and nausea . In the very beginning I had a day or two with bowel issues but I think that was from all the acid . Do you think you have gastritis too ?
What are your symptoms ?

Hi Pro211, I have pain in the lower middle stomach, which comes and goes, also have diaorhea at times. Somrtimes suffer with heartburn, I have a hiatus hernia. I do suffer from anxiety and depression which does not help. I am trying to loose weight and get out and mix more, but I am in doors looking after my Father with dementia. I have had test for food intolerances, but I think they are a waste of money.

I understand . I also suffer from anxiety and depression . Of course that doesn't help with our stomach issues . Did you have any other tests? For instance a colonoscopy or endoscopy . I know when my ibs flares up I get loose bowels . The gastritis pain is near my left rib or get be right in the middle , sternum area .
Stomach issues are horrible .

Hi I get pain in the top of my stomach and it also seems to affect my oesophaghus too. I can get bloating,tightening and an intense burning raw pain. Sometimes it feels like I have something stuck down my oesophaghus. I get reflux but not everyday now thankfully. I used to get bad IBS pain in my left side in my colon. That is like a cramp and the guts feel very tight. I had that for a long while but I think this is worse for me,the gastric pain. I had Mebeverine for the IBS but some say Buscapan is better for that. Probiotics make a difference with that. I get depression and anxiety too. I just want my stomach back to normal. I used to go to Indian restaurants before all this and on holiday. Now I find it hard to eat anything at all some days. Ive been in hospital a lot with stomach issues too. Mines been really bad so it may not be the same for everyone. Hope you feel better soon.
