Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

HELP. I have IBS and the pain in the lower part of my stomache is horrid. Doctor gave me some spasmosol ans co-codamal, but no use. At present I am fed up with all this pain and Doctor does not no what to give me, just says its I B S, great. Got any serjestions out there please?

hi, flowerA. first thing you need to do is RELAX, i know, easier said than done, but it will help. Glad you found this site, everybody is here to help and is in the same boat, (or has been) next thing you need to do is drink lots of water and i mean LOTS, LOTS of water. I drink 80-90 ounces of water a day. the water helps push things through. next, try a low residue diet (you can find these on the web) you will need to stay on this for several days. the diet gives the system time to heal and settle down. also if your doc doesn't know what to do, you may want to think about seeing someone else or have your doc refer you to someone. this does and will get better, but be patient. let us know how you are doing, we are here to help you get through this.

Did you post to the IBS boards yet? They may also have some really helpful suggestions for you there as well.
