Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I have just had an attack of gastritis, my first was last year in march which probably caused a hiatal hernia or sometimes they come hand in hand. I was actually over it and living nicely with the hernia although it gave me problems it was rare. Could pretty much eat things within reason but probably over did the eating part last week.
Anyway, as I have had the symptoms before, I pretty much recognised the problem straight away so what I have done is go onto baby foods, porridge and bananas , and rice gruel and and eating sparingly three meals a day. No hard food items, it has been okay with minor bloating and slight grazing pains telling me its there but no major issues. I have also been to see a chinese accupuncturist although you couldn't feel any major outright effect, as we all now gastritis takes time to heal. I just hope to shorten the healing time.
I am also taking spoons of manuka honey and my accupuncturist did recommend aloe vera to me. As my digestion is quite delicate at the moment, I thought I would finish the the san jiu wei tai course first before I go on to other things.
Anyway she throughly recommended me san jiu we tai which i have been drinking twice a day after morning and evening meal. I am not sure of the effect but I obviously don't feel the attack as bad as I did last year. I have googled this chinese medicine thoroughly and I am aware of bad press in regards to this, but obviously this is only made up of minor natural ingredients which didn't sound so bad. Heck if half of the china market swear by this stuff then why not try!!
You drink the stuff for 15 days and to follow the instructions of what not to eat and do, it is supposed to help with gastritis, atrophic gastritis and acid reflux.

How are your gastritis symptoms. I still get bloating by the evening and am on soft foods at the moment and dry toast but hopefully it won't last for as long as last time. It took me 3 months to be able to eat food comfortably but still will reflux. I still take lansoprazole 30 mg per day and have burping and of course depression.
