Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I agree. I think that would be helpful for quite a few here! You already have an in depth knowledge of the PPIs!
I have noticed quite a few are not sure they work(especially Nexxium) and in fact may make it worse.
It is so crucial to get the acid suppression issue figured out quickly with gastritis. When I had heartburn and mild gastritis they always worked for me.. So I dont get it.
I am wondering if when you have more severe gastritis the cells already are being effected and then the PPIs cant work as well?? Not sure though.
I do think if you can take Zantac it is a better option.
Smile,,one thing I have learned when dealing with doctors and this acid issue. I dont think they really understand it unless they have had it.
Sometimes you have to be pushy with them and it is your body after all. I do think Zantac is safer over the long term.
The first week I felt alright - not great, but clearly less acid. Weird things happened though: I got a cold sore on my lip, I got a bunch of zits on my face, and I got this pinkish red blemish type thing next to and ber my right eye (it's still there).
The second week - where I did take two days of Bactrim for an abscess before quitting - I started to feel extremely sick, worse than before I began the PPI. I thought it was the Bactrim but now I'm not so sure.
It's week three and I am utterly miserable. What can I say? I wake and my bladder seems to be filled with five gallons of urine. Every time I urinste its like that. I get these crazy intense nightmares that wake me up. Tha stuff is bearable but the light headedness, the extreme bloating, and the extremes nausea and pain I feel is just unbearable.
What is going on? Is it that it's not working? Or is it that my body simply can't handle omeprazole?
I just don't know what's going on. I want to switch to Zantac as soon as possible but all these tales of rebound are scaring the hell out of me because I'm already on a downward spiral ON the PPI.
Can I just stop the PPI and start Zantac, like that?
It's clearly not suiting you.
There are plenty of other ppi's to try. I got none of those effects on Lansoprazole or Nexium.
I too, would love to read your post regarding the absorption and mechanism of PPI's. I have been on Laprazol for two months with mixed results but have decided to taper off and move to Zantac combined with Pepzin. I'm trying to gather as much information about PPI's as well as everything and anything concerned with gastritis! So your post will be greatly welcomed :)

I'll post something in the next few days.
