Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Ravenfish you are my idol, I hope to be where you are someday. By the way sorry to hear about the relapse due to the bacterial issue--that really stinks!!!!
I agree that right now, within reason whatever our stomachs can handle we should eat. Lets face it we're not overwhelmed with options. My naturopath laughed when I told her have jelly (jello) every night. She offered me a healthier option and I told her I'd healthy and needed rebellion. My tummy handles the jelly and every other morsel that enters my mouth is healthy. I ate lunch at work the other day at big gathering and felt very strange. When I'm at my normal work place with my friends I'm ok. Don't think I could manage a restaurant for months yet. I have some trips coming up and don't honestly know if I can do them now.
Sorry to hear your stuck on pureed foods Sowle. Hopefully that improves soon and like ravenfish we can change our smiley to excellent.
When I first became ill, I continued to eat what I wanted in moderation. Good, bad- it didn't matter. After I landed in the ER for the fifth time in two weeks, something snapped and I committed to changing my diet one-hundred percent. I still vary it as needed, day by day, but stick to the basics. I don't have control over my body, but I do have control over what I put in it. And if it means getting my life back, I will eat this way everyday if I have to. The value of my life is worth more to me, than the foods I used to crave.
Soretum--where I work I have to organize our company luncheons--If they only knew how hard that is for me, but regardless I get through ordering it, serving it and then I go off to my little corner to eat my pureed food.
I have given up totally on eating out or eating at friends and relatives.
I have a question--can any of you tolerate soups? I have not been able to eat a homemade soup in over 6 months. My thought was to blend all the ingredients and try it that way.
I can tolerate soups. When I was first sick I was on a liquid diet for a a few days and I ate home made chicken broth and hot vegemite. I can now tolerate soups be they pureed or not. Why try the vegies you can tolerate and have a pureed soup. Like ravenfish my diet has done a complete turn around and my treats are only those I can manage with comfort. I had a reaction to something last night and I'm thinking it was the little bit of cheese in my frittata. I've managed small amounts before but maybe in the evening is no good. I'll leave cheese again for a while.
I asked my naturopath about the essaic tea and she said I should leave it for now. It does however have slippery elm so it should be good. Since I'm trying something new this week I'll let my tummy adjust to that for now.
Good luck and let me know how you go with the soup.
Thinking of you,

Anyway, I get my strength to carry on from my 5 yr old. I see his precious little face and couldn't imagine not being in his life. He is my gift and I will do anything to make sure I am here on this earth to raise him.
