Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Pepzin GI and PPI?

Do you take Pepzin while you are taking PPI's? I just started trying the Omeprazole again and am taking Pepzin later in the day. I think this is ok. No worse than taking the PPI and Carafate right?

I just thought I'd give the PPI about a week... trial again. But I don't want to give up the Pepzin.

I take both as well. I take between 3-4 pepzin gi each day.

Needle, do you take them on a empty or full stomach, the Pepzin GI?

Take them on an empty stomach. I take the PPI first thing in the morning.,Intake the pepzin gi before lunch about an hour, before dinner about an hour and usually before bedtime.

I just started Pepsin GI 3 times a day.. I was previously only taking it 2x a day... One a little after breakfast, 1 in the afternoon and 1 after dinner.

I think someone said it decreases acid so you don't want to take it before you eat.

Ok.. what about taking Zantac or Pepcid when the heartburn and the sick stomach comes along? Should we be taking these every day or just as needed? And, which is better? Someone told us the difference in another post, but I can't remember where I saw it now. I'm assuming we all have a certain amount of acid or gerd.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that each of us has to find that right combination to help get us through the day. We're all a little different. You all seem to understand this illness so much better than I do. I learn so much from you all. More than from my doctors.
