Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Pepzin GI

Hi,

I heard about taking Pepzin GI from someone on this site who had luck with it. So, I thought I'd give it a try, and it's been about 2 months now. I took 2x/day (lunch and dinner) and my PPI 2x/day. Overall I have been doing 'ok' (not normal as I still get bouts of nausea...sometimes triggered by food and sometimes not sure the trigger), but overall, the nausea was less. So I stopped the night time PPI and am now down to my PPI 1x/day.

I'm wondering
1) Has anyone else tried Pepzin GI, and if so, any difference?
2) Anyone know if this can be taken indefinitely? I just ordered another 2 bottles and if it helps, I'm ok taking it....but am not sure if its a short term thing.

I should add too...that I even ate Chinese food last night and was ok (mostly vegetables, plain-ish noodles and tofu, but did have a spring roll). Am not pushing things and going crazy, but we had friends over and was really happy things went down ok.

I have been taking Pepzin GI x2 per day for a few weeks along with ranitidine x2 and psyllium husk x4 before each meal along with domperidone before each meal and the burning in my stomach is hardly noticeable now. I have also cut right back on fats, spices, dairy and fruit and all foods that set of reflux like chocolate and tomatoes. I have been mostly eating proteins and carbs and don't feel restricted with what I eat. Not sure how much the supplements help because I know if I eat the wrong foods I'm gonna have the burn back so I think its more the diet I'm eating that is helping the most but I do think they are playing their part. I pretty much started the supplements together so it is hard to pinpoint which one works the best but as long as my stomach keeps from burning then I'm happy to keep taking them.

I also wanted to know the success rate of Pepzin GI. If anyone out there has successfully wean themselves off PPIs with the help of Pepzin GI, please share your experience here.
