What are you taking them with? It sounds like you are probably having an acidic reaction. If you can take them with food, try crackers, bread or potatoes. This might help relieve some of your discomfort. If you can't take them with food, I would suggest consulting with you doctor or talk to the pharmacy- they may have a suggestion also.

thanks...I had a few crackers but it just seems too much for me. I think I'll avoid taking them unless I need too. When I had my surgery for endometriosis, they gave me a pain med that is a little less strong. If I take anything I'll just take one of those. I still have the entire bottle practically, and a refill if need be, but I seem to be managing it with a heating pad for now. I see my doc on Monday so I'll discuss everything with her. Want to try and find out how I got chronic gastritis anyway so that I can try and heal myself. Doing a lot of research on good foods and herbs right now. It's amazing how much benefit there is to some stuff that you can just grow in your own garden!

Agreed! Natural is always better if you have that option- especially when it comes to foods and nutrients. Make sure to mention though that the medication does cause you some problems though just in case- that way they will make a note on your chart for future reference and will hopefully be more careful regarding giving you similar medications in the future, unless necessary. I was recently prescribed Vicodin for a back injury. I took one pill and it bothered my stomach. Thank goodness the pain wasn't severe. It hurt but I would take that pain over the stomach pain any day. To get through my back pain I used ice and extra strength Tylenol. I used to take ibuprofen for back pain but can't take that anymore because of the gastritis.

what kind of pain meds are they? I can only handle paracetamol. I could handle disprin before gastritis but I've never been able to cope with anything stronger really. If they are paracetamol I'd still eat with them in case. Out tummy's are so compromised to start with.

I have a massive fibroid tumor (size of basketball) and gastritis. I can tell you have a massive tumor crushing your excruciating burning and sore stomach is NOT fun lol. But when I take Vicodin and Percocet 10mg my stomach in 20 minutes goes down half it's size and I feel no more pain. If it wasn't for pain pills, I'd lose my ever-lovin' mind. The pain pills are actually for sciatic pain from the tumor. But I take them every day to keep my stomach from being so distended. I'm so sorry they don't work the same for you. It's not an NSAID, correct?

The pain pills they gave me were a stronger version of vicodin. I ended up taking vicodin instead, but only a couple of times. It still burns some and makes me dizzy and nauseated. Not a big fan of pills because they always make me fell kinda sick. Sometimes they do help though, if I'm in a lot of pain. It's strange because there are days when I feel like I could eat anything, and than days when I feel so horrible I will only drink my coconut water shakes. Oh, what fun!
