I'm so sorry you're going through this! You're such a trooper going through this for 12 years. I've had gastritis/reflux for 4 months and it's driving me crazy!

I hope the meds work for you and they can figure out what's going on. It does sound like an ulcer. I'm seeing a nutritionist in Scotland where I'm from who thinks our issues come from low stomach acid. This started for me in full force after a course of antibiotics so the nutritionist (who is also a qualified gastro nurse) thinks my gut bacteria are to blame for my symptoms.

Of course it's all anxiety inducing- which make the symptoms worse!

Aha! It's interesting that you mentioned antibiotics - I had 3 courses on the run up to Christmas. This could explain my latest flare up.

Hiya i had gastritis for a long while now 7 years and from what i have learnt during my time of suffering is gastritis can cause the stomach to produce less acid but not usually the other way round but once that tummy doesnt make as much acid that can then cause more discomfort.
Usually from the food remaining and then causes risk of repeat infections or ulcers
But also a possibility of some occassional reflux for you redstar which would only be caused by a loose sphincter if it was regular pain
Probably the gastritis is more long term for you and the pain not so often?
Ive had a few gastric polyps removed
My first endoscopy was misdiagnosed-apparently they 1st thought it was a loose sphincter

I had taken Losec for many years and it worked well. Then last summer, I had a major attack and ended up in the Emergency room. The attending doctor changed the medication to Pantoprazole which didn't work either.. I'm beginning to wonder if a PPl will work at all after so many years. Since last summer, I have had numerous attacks that always occur without warning and I'm very diligent about taking meds on time.

I have read that long term use of PPI medications can lead to problems with bone density. I'm beginning to lose faith in them.

I am new to this group and am hoping for some positive feedback. I had my gallbladder removed a little over 4 years ago and have continued to have stomach issues. Last October I had an incisional hernia removed thinking this would relieve some of my stomach issues. When I say "stomach issues" I'm referring to the constant nausea that I have. I don't have a lot of heartburn but I do have it. So, I went to my PPC and was put on Protonix and sent for an endoscopy, which shows that I have inflammation in the stomach lining due to taking NSAIDS. Whole other story but I am also a arthritis & migraine sufferer. So, I basically stopped taking anything anything for a headache or arthritis. Now, after about 4 months the Protonix has stopped working and I am finding that I need to take additional acid reducing medicine (Pepto, Alka Seltzer chews or Omeparazole) around dinner time to help. I've practically stopped eating because everything I do eat aggravates my stomach. I am going to see a gastro doctor because I am just tired of living like this. Any feedback would be very appreciated.

I have chronic gastritis for over 3 months now had an endoscopy done prescribe meds diet you name it and still no relief can you help me
