Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
wow you have been through the mill with this :( I have no advice to offer ref the pains you are having, but I wouldn't be afraid to ask your GP. I know 'they' now say that stress is not a factor in gastritis, but I really believe it is, everytime I have had an attack its happened after a stressful time.
What medication have you been given?
I hope you find some answers, there are some lovely people on this board who are always willing to give some advice :)
I can give you some advice through what I've endured. The brat diet works a little, so stock up on bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, bread and chicken. What they don't tell you is water isn't enough, so cut your water with a little G2 to keep the electrolytes in your system. Keep away from stress (and I sure hope you still have that job, I lost mine soon as I got gastritis). Be atuned to your body, know how it feels when an if an attack comes and how to prevent it or ride through it. (This may take time, but is worth it to relieve some pressure). And the hardest thing to do is to keep the right amount of food in your stomach: an agitated stomach may hurt with food, but it's unbearable without it, so when you're not hurting keep something down such as a piece of toast or a bite of banana.
I hope this helps and, it may take long (and will feel long) but, in time, this will pass.
PS, I'd check your colon, cause that condition sounds more worrisome than an upset stomach.
I would just say try not to worry about anything (easier said than done, I know), and don't get into any 'what if's' because many of us here have been there, and it really doesn't help; just promotes unneeded anxiety. Chances are that if you're getting exams, you will be able to cross several worries off your list.
Hang in there, keep getting tests as needed, and remember that we are here for you. Also, it helps to take one day at a time.
I don't know if you're a person of faith, but many of us here are, and that is immensely helpful. Best wishes!!
