Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Hi all. I would say I'm 80% healed of the gastritis but fir the first time in absolute ages I'm having a reaction that is into it's 2nd day.
I think the butcher gave me the wrong sausages and two days in I'm paying the price.
I don't think I'll ever get that elusive 20% but manage it quite well and am able to travel and pretty much have my old life back. I can eat many if my old foods again so I have much to be thankful for. I just hate having pain that I shouldn't have to if you know what I mean.
Still - onwards and upwards.

I've read your story and I am glad to hear 4 years in, that the majority if your symptoms are gone. I am sorry to hear that, hopefully the flare up will end soon.

I can't wait to get back to that 80% feeling.

How long did it take for you to get to 80%.

I would say about three years. I don't expect t the last 20% am not being greedy. I can eat tomato, onion, garlic, chilli and many other foods now. I managed a trip to Thailand last year and am planning one for Vietnam and Cambodia next year with my parents so I do have much to be thankful for.
Unless a bad ingredient gets me I gave no pain with the gastritis and gave been that way for nearly two years I guess.

I'm sure you will get more than those 80%, it just started a few years ago! In the near future it will be 90% and one day you will forget about the gastritis.

it gives me so much hope that you have had no real pain since 2 years. Eating tomatoes must be the paradise, how i miss pasta. But the biggest thing i miss is espresso :/

Your story sounds almost the same as mine although I am never totally pain free, always uncomfortable but eat what I like, now I have my first bad flare up 2 1/2 years in but that seems to be settling a little and I am positive that yours will too. Strangely enough this flare are symptoms a little different to before but just as nasty, I too am grateful for 80% ish!!! We can only hope

Glad you have 80% too bellyup. It's a far cry from my horrid begin in four years ago.
