Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
You can try pepzin GI. It wont hurt. Diet sounds good except broccoli
I was put on some antidepressants for other reasons and yes it does help with gastritis i was on them with PPIs and a really good gastritis diet plus i ate every 3 hours and note i was hospitalized so i was forced to do all these things and did not know a thing or two about gastritis or bland food i just did what they told me.
In two weeks my G was gone, came off the meds and diet came back much worse ! If you do improve stay on your regimen for a LONG TIME before venturing new waters ! I would drop the yogurt even in the hospital they wouldnt give me more than two eggs !
Everyone might disagree on me with this one but Pepzin Gi works best for me with foods (in the middle of the meal) maybe its because I dont use any meds so the only time theres no acid or its busy its with a meal! Pepzin Gi works best when theres no damage going on to your tummy I suppose. I would recommend you take it with food if you feel nausea all the time or take it with the times you dont feel nausea.
Keep your tummy with food at all times.
I'll keep eating bland and taking antidepressant meds. I don't use any PPI cause they don't give me any relief at all. I've tried 3 diff of them for at least 2-3 months and I'm sure they don't work for me.
Broccoli is pretty nutritious and I see a comment of shinolinge (I spell it wrong I know) that he puts broccoli in the safe side and it seems it does not hurt me. Nevertheless green beans, asparagus, carrots, potatoes and zucchini would be better for me. Most of the times I eat rice and chicken and it does not hurt me at all. I just want to add some safe nutritious veggies.
Well, about Pepzin GI, I take it between meals right now. There are so many recommendation about time of using. But your right. If Pepzin GI heals stomach lining, than it means I have to take it when I feel good.
Also PPIs dont work with cokes but with a bland diet too! You can try slippery elm before bed and when you wake up or Gastromend if you feel brave. Read shihonages post tons of ideas he gives people.
I'm doing better now with Mirtazapine + benzo called for Medazepam. My diet was almost strict bland. I said "it was" cause I ate some chia seeds, overconsume on yogurt and plums and I fart all day long and feel nauseous again. I think I really need more time to heal completely. It seems bland eating is a key for me.
Also I keep taking pepzin gi doctors brand x2 a day - between meals. I don't use any acid blocker. Taking 5 gr glutamine on my train days.
Also weird fact: I was feeling nauseous while training before antidepressans and benzot. I feel pretty good while I'm training now. Also was feeling nauseous in bus/subway if I look/play my phone amd it gone, too
I back to my bland diet again, I was eating like this,
Boiled eggs, toasts, a few bites of goat cheese, olives
White rice, chicken breast
Quinoa, cooked carrots/zucchini/sweet potato
White rice, chicken breast
But in my condition, it seems I still need to eat plain/bland. Unripe plums throwed me into nightmareland.
I'm still trying to find out which antidepressant it was , it was a muscle relaxer also prescribed for IBS it wasn't mirtazaprine. It's the only antidepressant i could take because of other problems mostly cardiac.
I think I'm on healing process now. I remember those nightmarish days, I was eating just a few bites of watermelon and nausea was lasting almost a week. But now, if I eat some unriped fruits or fresh berries, it still gives me nausea yup but it lasts just a few hours and it does not hurt much.
Plain chicken + rice is my main meal. And it seems antidepressants + bland + pepzin gi combination work for me!
I'm not still %100 but I get better. Just need more time to heal completely if I'm not wrong.
Im not in the USA for sure but ill be back soon to my home sweet home.
Got random flare ups but my diet is not strict. I eat olives and lots of cheese and sometimes yogurt. I think I really need to keep my diet strict. My new schedule is,
Toasts, cheese, eggs
Chicken breast, white rice
Quinoa, cooked veggies such as zucchini, carrots, green beans
Chicken breast, white rice
Also smooth pbs are ok?
I feel burning throat since 2 weeks. I blame Mirtazapine. And my nausea increased a bit. My diet is still bland. I think my esophagus damaged due to Mirtazapine. Read that mirtazapine may cause reflux on some people.
My psychiatrist said me that you can quit those drugs if you wish, no need of tapering of that low dose. So I prolly quit, cause my burning feeling increase day after day. I never feel burning throat before. My only symptom was nausea.
So I'm gonna use omeprazole 20 mg daily. At least for 4-6 weeks.
What do you think?
A few days ago I had Gaviscon liquid just thinking I was helping any silent reflux lurking around and it immediately hurt my throad, it isi still on high alert today waiting to really hurt me.
It does sound like your anti dep has started this off. I am still holding off PPIs but like you wonder if I should start. How can we help this awful pain in the throat - and will PPIs calm it down.
The dose I have been given is 20m am and pm so maybe I should be starting them.
But I so don't want to.
Hope someone can help us here.
