Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

HI everyone,
Before trying some mango I researched and it seemed to be a safe food. I only had a small piece so the reaction isn't too bad. Has anyone else had a reaction to mango. I was so excited at having something different to eat...now I wish i hadn't bothered...especially when it cost me $4.00
Oh well. The reactions are getting easier to deal with I'm just annoyed as I thought it was safe.
any thoughts???

I haven't tried mango but cantaloupe sat well in small amounts. The softer the better. When firm it was still a little hard on my stomach.

Thanks for that info. I have discovered that if I wait a few months they will be softer and riper. I bought a new season mango. Something I don't normally do. You really can do all the research and miss something like that. Thanks for the support. I hope all is well with you.

By the time we've all lived with this a while we will know more than the doctors...what am i saying...we already do!

That's great Cas! It is ironic that you say how we will know more than the docotor's by the end of this. My own doctor was commenting on the many recent discoveries they are having not only about the GI system but also about antibiotic over-use. Some information both he and I would have found useful ahead of time several months ago.

I'm so thankful I was only on PPI meds for a month. They may help symptoms but don't heal much. It's everything else we do that does that. I know they helped me for the time I was on them.
Am getting stronger each day and am now waiting for my tummy to expand to keep up with my increasing want to eat more food!

oh and the mango wasn't wasted. My cat loves it so I give him a little with his tea.

i used lots of mangoes without any harm previous months.i think mango is a safe fruit for gastiritis person.i al so use lemon many time and digest it without pain and al so grapes in one time.now i can use all fruits without any fear .it is my experience and your experience may be different .ok

My mango was new season so it bit me. I found out AFTER that they must be very ripe. None of the research on digestion or gastritis mentioned that. I'll wait now till summer is here (I'm in Australia) and I'll be ok.
I'm interested to hear you're ok with lemon. My naturopath keeps telling me it will be ok but I've been to scared. Maybe now I'll try. I can handle pineapple now as long as it is very ripe.
Thanks for your help and support Rizimc88. I was ok with grapes but they are now out of season here so I must wait a while. Like you though most fruits mercifully are ok.
