Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Hi all,
I've had a reaction to a food or foods that I've safely been eating for over 12 months. It is either tinned salmon or turmeric. I made fish cakes and used tried and true ingredients. I suspect the turmeric as I was ok with my previous batch of fish cakes.
My question is: Have any of you lost foods that you could safely eat after such a long time?
I know I'll have to test both ingredients out to be sure. I can eliminate the other ingredients in the fish cakes as I eat them daily with no dramas.

Are you using oil to cook them? The oil or one of the additives may be a part of the problem. I did have changes in my diet as my condition changed. Mostly though pre and post-infection. But even just with the gastritis, some foods became more difficult to digest or caused a harsher reaction as I was going through the healing process. And some foods still cause problems. Good luck. I am sure you will sort it out.

the thing is nothing but nothing changed and they were dry fried in my non stick pan. I can cook with some olive oil. I'm wandering if it was a bad can of salmon or something. Maybe too oily or salty.
Anyhow I'll try salmon (wild) in a couple of weeks when my tests are out of the way. I don't want to be any sicker than I need to be to do them. The cakes had salmon, ginger, turmeric, potato, sweet potato, carrots and zucchini and maybe a couple of other vegies I safely eat.
Either way I won't touch that batch again. I wonder if the cat can safely eat them?

Or fatty. Salmon is one of the fattier fish. Maybe it was a bad batch that contained more fat than normal. I know that can really get my gears going. Hopefully when you try again it will be more successful. Stick with it and in time, I am sure you will figure out what is causing the upset.

I'm 86ing that batch and have checked that Oscar can safely eat all ingredients in them. I think it must have been a bad can and was thinking it might have been too oily.
I've bought wild tinned salmon and once next weeks intolerance tests are out of the way will try it. I'm sure i'll be fine.
