Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I have had a very painful flare up for over a week now. I have been taking two Pantoprazoles a day. They are just not working. Apart from that I have sucralfate or Gaviscon. The pain is really bad and I just can,t shake it. Its making it very hard to eat with this pain. My husband is wondering if the Pantoprazole is making things worse. I don,t know what to think. If its the tablets then Im no better off. Im taking a lot of painkillers but just get a lot of pain everyday,worsening at night. Its awful keeping off certain foods and it still not healing. It just really hurts,despite prayer. Ive had a bad stomach for over two years and other people have healed after a few months,it doesn,t make sense. I have had the worse gastritis since the end of last year. I have had the odd good day then its back. A lot of things I should eat I can,t tolerate. The slippery elm capsules do not go down well. I need to get the powder to mix. Thanks
Otherwise, maybe try going the heat route and sit with a heating pad behind your back (just don't forget to unplug it--I have to watch that!). I don't know why that sometimes works better than ice, but often, at least for me, it does.
This condition sure does depend on the individual person though, and I'm finding our damp, rainy week here is causing my body to "flare." I'm waiting for sunshine!
