Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Also have you tried STRICTLY following the dietary advice you asked for recently? I think the conclusion was to try & strictly stick to protein & root vegetables for a few days to see if it helps. Unfortunately it takes more than just cutting out chocolate & coffee!
Taking an extra ppi & the strict diet has calmed my inflammation down a LOT in the last 3 weeks.
Even with the omeprazole I still had on/off pain, I did kind of expect (wish!) it to work straight away and be done. But it took a while to kick in. I'm ashamed to say some days I took up to 4 tablets a day (80mg) because I felt so desperate.
One thing that helped me alot, and I don't know if it was coincidence (ie the pills kicking in) but I ate alot of natural yogurt, the BIO ones. I think it was yeo valley plain yogurt. I would take a few spoonfuls of it through out the day, eating it little and often. Also I reduced my portion size and just had my meals on a tea plate. I also gave up coffee, which for me seemed to work loads.
hang in there, but do go back to your doc if you feel you need to. My original doctor who prescribed me the omeprazole gave me two months and said if it hadnt cleared up then to go back. I had all ready been suffering 2 months prior (but stupidly tried to manage it myself), and it DID clear up in two months.
Huge hugs to you, it will get better x.
I know there are mixed feelings about dairy, but it really does stop my pain instantly.
