Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I have got up this morning with no nausea for the first time in about 7 weeks. (Am i tempting fate writing this?) i have my first day back at work after a week off sick so hopefully will have something to take my mind off things and will have a good day.
I read on here somewhere that sometimes its "mind over matter" and that's the way i plan to go from now on.
Hope you feel better soon
Just a brief catchup on this morning's post. My nausea never appeared today so had a "normal day" for once. Hopefully this will continue and i can get back to my normal self, who i haven't been for about a year.
Hopefully we will all continue to have more good days than bad
Seeinglight, 11 months? Doesn't make my 4.5 months sound so long...but then I really wonder if this is going to get better. Doctors initially said it I would feel normal again, but I personally highly doubt it...and wonder if I can ever again eat what I want without worrying about how nauseous I'll feel afterwards. Also...I hear you about your spouse. I think that my husband is tired of hearing me complain...but it's not him who feels sick everytime he eats.
Hope to have more normal days, but we'll see..to be honest, not too optimistic.
Nina, yeah "food hangover". But on my good day, I didn't eat crazy..a small piece of birthday cake and plain pasta were the only things different. So it's frustrating when i can feel normal and be optimistic and then the nausea hits again.
Went out for dinner last night with a friend. Stuck with a simple meal...salmon, steamed asparagus and carrots, and quinoa (maybe a touch of spice but not much). Felt the nausea when done. Funny enough, we then had dessert (cookie and ice cream) and the nausea dissapeared. Go figure. Now this morning, it's just a full feeling.
It certainly does suck. I have never thrown up.
The most bizarre thing about it (as i have said on a different discussion) is that my nausea comes on at approx 6.15am in the morning and disappears between 7pm and 7.30pm at night. No other problems just this nausea. Sometimes think it might be all in my head.
I have just started some counselling for anxiety issues, may be that's what it is.
I took prilosec when first diagnosed , but after a month or so went natural route. I would say from about October 2012. From February ; March this year I was off all meds. Only thing I still take regularly is ensure, because of my limited diet. And when the nausea raises its head I take ginger tablets and ginger bon bons. Thats it . And you? do you follow the natural route or conventional meds? thinking of you
I am on meds....up to 2 prevacid a day, which seems to make things better than it was as the nausea comes and goes as opposed to being constant. Also take slippery elm (when I remember inbetween meds), and DGL...and things like tums. Have been trying aloe vera juice or coconut water but can't tell if they help.
terri, sorry the domperidone isn't helping. I have an anit-nausea pill too, but it only helps if the nausea is very little.
