To be honest I think that I am probably going to be fired for all the work I have missed dealing with my stomach issues

I'm a stay at home mom, so I can't call in sick :) but it does affect my life at times for sure- especially if I'm having a bad day. .

This condition has not just affected my working life, it's affected my whole life for the last 8 months. It took that long to diagnose my gastritis and even though I have mild gastritis it has been the worse 8 months of my life!. I have missed on average 4-5 weeks of work, and many arrangements that I had made (wedding/trips/ meals out etc). I have been going into work everyday with some form of pain or discomfort and lost count of how many Doctors I have seen. It's still an ongoing battle for me and I just want to get back to how I was last year...and get back to my original weight..have lost 2 stone so far. Praying that we all heal.

I took 30 days leave without pay after I was diagnosed to give my body time to heal. I have missed days since returning due to medication issues. It has also affected my personal life, missing out on so many of my kids activities, family get togethers, etc. I pray for all of us in this group, that we will all heal and know truth health again....and soon!

Just ticked over the 4 year mark of having stomach pains & issues and was only diagnosed in January of this year with extensive HPylori, chronic gastritis & cell changes.
I had test/scans years ago & all come back negative, with only mild stomach inflammation.
I had the HP treatment in January with an all clear, but I don't believe it's gone. I'm still suffering different degrees of pain every day. I have tried eating bland, only having juice,soups & broths, eating - not eating, drugs & drug free, all this has done has made me b12 deficient, run down & fatigued.
But what I am really struggling with now is that I am constantly getting sick with all sorts of other ailments for example a small cut on hand turns into staff infection. Had a infection in my tooth/gum which resulted in root canal & drainage, Worst bout of cold sore ever & mouth ulcers & now of to the doctors today for another cold that has turned into a sinus infection.
During all these illness I would force myself to go to work no matter how bad I got, I have a strong pain threshold & I never got sick before all this, but it's getting real hard now.
My last doctor (she has left now) said I was working to long hours (I do a 50 your week) & need lifestyle changes.
I have cut my working hours down now but still darn in pain, still getting sick & over it

This has been helpful to read. Last month now I have suffered with gastris and only just been sort of told I have it. I started a new part time job but even being on my feet for four hours is hard work and painful.. I hate the thiught of not working but it does make it worse. X

Just to update my post.
I am counting down the days till next Tuesday when I'm off to see the gastroenterologist again.
He did my first gastroscopy 4 years ago & he diagnosed me with an inflamed stomach, no H/Pylori & IBS and to follow a Fodmap diet plan. I think that the Helicobactor just wasn't rampant enough for it to be picked up then.

The last gastroscopy was done by a general surgeon after I was had bad stomach pains after the anaesthetic for a small surgery. he diagnosed the chronic gastritis caused by H/Pylori.

I also have LCIS (lobular carcinoma in situ) it's not breast cancer but puts me in a high risk category.
In my last check up, I had a lump that need a biopsy, thank goodness it is benign & all is good, but the stress of waiting for those results had me in a full blown gastritis attack and enough that it had me in a mini melt down.
On my pathology report it noted that I had a multinucleated giant cell, which basically means the body is fighting infection.
My gastroscopy pathology report that I had back in January diagnosed me as chronic atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia and helicobactor.
I am most worried that after 4 years of being inflamed, having metaplasia & now the giant cell reaction, the chances of it turning into ulcers or stomach cancer may be higher than I think.

As I said, I don't think the pesky bug has gone & I am going with cap in hand to plead that they take me seriously & try to either eradicate this bacteria or help me find the root cause of my gastritis

It's getting to the stage where if this Doctor can't give me a path to recovery, I may have to consider giving up my working life & concentrate on just eating, exercising, resting and being a lot less stressed.

As I sit here with an attack coming on (knew I should've stuck to my bland cereal) I'm wondering the same thing. I've been diagnosed for 3 months. I had a baby girl back in march and I'm due back at work next week and I'm terrified as I've had terrible attacks the past month. The process just to ensure I don't have an attack it consuming, monitoring how often I eat what I eat making sure I'm drinking water but not to much (which doesn't help when the nexium makes you so damn thirsty!!) it's really tough, being a mother of 2 also, starting to effect my moods cause I don't sleep most nights (and not cause of my bub) I'm pacing in pain... sigh... I hope yours will pass soon and your employer understands while you heal. Sending good vibes your way!
