Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
yes i think so...this thing is so unpredictable! one day I feel not bad , not too much pain , maybe just indigestion or slight stomach ache but then Bam! I accidently eat something I should not have and it's back to square 1 for a few days, but I do find that i get some sort of pain just about every day, but not serious pain. The nausea in the morning is worse for me and really bad sweating in the night...just wondering if anyone else suffers with this??...I am not sure if it is to do with the menopause...I had quite bad indigestion tonight...how are you feeling??.. how long have you had the gastritis??
Plus I take B12 bought at CVS that dissolves under the tongue-another lifesaver!
Fatigue was a huge issue for me ranging from bent over knuckle dragging to bloody hell I'm exhausted.
I was also going thru menopause & thought some of the fatigue was caused by that.
As you could imagine I was darn well happy when they discover H/Pylori & gastritis was the cause of my stomach issues (I had the test when the stomach pain first started & it all came back as negative & just an inflamed stomach lining)
I have Had the eradication treatment, took a higher does of PPI ( they gave me these drugs at the beginning but I only took them when I was really bad with pain)
Did my fatigue get any better - am sorry to say NO
I have recently had another round of blood test because I still feel unwell & badly fatigued, one of my test came back as a elevated than normal B12.
Doctors weren't to concerned & said we will monitor it. I was not happy with this (at the beginning they said I didn't have H/pylori or gastritis, so I suffered for 3 years & because of that I now have chronic gastritis with abnormal cells)
I have how seek the help of a nutritional practitioner, this is what she explained to me.
Because of the undiagnosed gastritis, not eating regularly, the drugs to reduce acid & my constant state of fatigue, my body is not getting the nutritional benefits from food to the cellular level, all the good stuff (vitamins & minerals essential for good health) are being passed out through the body via the liver (hence elevated B12)
My body is not getting the vital stuff needed to be healthy, poor gut health, lack of essential vitamins & minerals will all effect my fatigue levels.
So I have gone off all acid suppressant drugs, am taking Zinc, magnesium, vitamin B, probiotic, & take Zantac only when I need to, plus watch what I eat...
My fatigue level is manageable, I'm not knuckle dragging fatigued anymore, I accept that gastritis, menopause, working long hours & being 50 comes with a small amount of fatigue. But I do feel better & feel that I am being proactive in my recovery...
If you look at my h2 blockers post you'll see that I couldn't manage the PPI emoprazole and have just been put onto ranitidine (zantac) 300mg once a day. They are not as strong as pepcid but hopefully will work and the side effects are no were near as bad as the omeprazole. Might be worth asking you GP about it. :)
