Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
After about 4 hours, the meat is so tender, it nearly falls apart. Let the water simmer down so not a lot is left--just enough for the gravy, and thicken with a little cornstarch and water or flour and water to make a 'gravy.' If you have organic beef broth, add a little for more flavor. Serve over mashed potatoes.
Frozen yogurt seems to work okay for me, but I always make sure I take a dairy digestant tablet with it 'just in case.'
As to the tests. Follow your gut feeling. Never worry about the specialist. His/her life will cruise on just fine. You are more important than them.
My friends have been wonderful. I can manage tea now but happily take a peppermint tea bag with me and my own food when visiting friends. I'm more relaxed that way. It is hard to get use to doing that I know but I've been doing it for a long time now and make no apologies or excuses for how I have to eat.
Getting pain to keep others happy won't do you tummy any good. Be kind to yourself. You deserve it. We all do.
Lets know what you decide re the tests.
Take care,
Cas
As to eating out it will in time get easier as your scope of foods opens up. I've had this for 20 months so its been a long fought battle to regain some of my life back. I can eat eggs anyway they're cooked.
I know what you mean about even having drinks out. My first work drink after I'd had this many months I sat and drank water with the girls. Now I can manage peppermint tea or regular tea. If I take a tablet for lactose intolerance I can have a hot chocolate now.
My eating places have narrowed but slowly my options on the menu expand giving me hope for the future.
You will get beyond this. Raven gave me the best advice when I first joined this site and was where you are now. Breath and take life one day at a time. That has been the best medicine of all.
Take care,
Cas
You really find out who your friends are when you have a condition like this - I'm in the same boat.
As others have said, you should be able to go to the pub. You can drink water and enjoy everyone's company. Once I got over that and explained what was going on, my friends all were fine with it.
As for eggs - consider trying cooking up just some egg whites in a very little butter. Good protein, and no fat to bother the stomach.
