Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Today is one of those days where I feel above 90% so I should be happy right? Nope, I feel worse mentally. It just makes me wonder if this is the best it will get for me. Feeling good at the cost of being on a strict diet always.
It is not all roses and rainbows stomach-wise, my stomach still gets tender most evenings so I am far from out of the woods.
I Keep trying to tell myself to remember how I felt around this time in June when my stomach just felt like it was full of acid and realize I am getting better, it just won't happen in a day.
Then my mind goes back to how many special events/holidays/birthdays will I miss before I am able, if I am able, to eat normally?
If I am able to eat normally, how long, if ever, will I be able to go out to eat my favorite dishes and drink coffee.
How many times will I be reminded of how much weight I have lost? Something I totally did not notice.
Then my mind snaps back and tells me to get out of this pity-party and tell myself I should be grateful I am not permanently disabled, was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor like my siblings best friend was at the age of 30 right after giving birth, or living on the streets with this condition.
I know this is not the best place to vent but I wish I could wake up one morning and this would all be done with. Not have to constantly figure out what I can and cannot eat and remind myself to not try and not think ahead.

My GI dr told me this illness is 50% physical, 50 % mental, that is so true! I can start thinking about my sadness and my stomach will start aciding up. I don't know what I would do without my aniexty meds, they stop the brain from going there, and brings you to a happy place, that's what it does for me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like you. Treeofstars.
Stay strong and positive.
It is a mental struggle and as hard as it can be try putting as much of as positive spin on the garbage you have to endure. I know I will manage this for life but will go without any food to be pain free. It will get better but it does take time. Please hang in there.
