Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I would love to have a huge thickshake again though!
My stomach still hurts from my cashew adventure so I am playing it safe for a while.
I'm actually having some soy ice cream right now. Better than nothing!
I plan to try to work back in milk eventually. Warm milk at night helps me sleep. But, I need to be sure my lining is healed and that' it's not a trigger.
I'd suggest just working it in very slowly, and not making any other changes the day you do.
If I do try milk again it will be full fat as low fat milk is higher in lactose and once you''ve been off milk for a while you become slightly lactose intolerant. I'll buy a good one though.
I can take traces of milk but am not sure about cream. It would make eating out easier.
I'm happy I can eat green beans again and will try peas and broccoli again next week.
Thanks for the feedback.

What about chocolate? I know it can produce acid for some. Do most of you stay away from it, or find that you can have some in doses?
Until you're more settled do avoid chocolate and only have small amounts of a good dark chocolate when you do. It is at least good for you and has the highest amount of antioxidants of all the foods.
I did manage the miso ok so I may try soy milk soon and forget dairy milk for a bit.

I did look for soy ice cream yesterday and had one option only. I'll mull it over coz if I can't eat it or don't like it I'm stuck trying to find someone who will eat it. I so hate the waste that can come with this illness.
Am going to try cooked broccoli again today. I'm sorry I took it out of my diet at all. It was only on suspicion back then. Will let you know.

Cooked will be much easier, but start with just a little, I'd think.
Working on adding some foods back in, myself. Doing much better, though not out of the woods at all. Still have some symptoms and occasional mild burning. So, I'm being ultra-careful.
Hope everyone is having a great night.
oh I dream of eating any vegie raw again one day. It took me months to work out only try small amounts of anything new. That way the pain isn't as bad if you get a nasty reaction. I really hope the broccoli goes well. Cooked peas on Thursday all going well.
I'll also try tahini now that I'm ok with sesame seeds. Another flavour to cook with.
Glad things are still on the mend for you. Slow and steady should be our mantra.
take care,
Cas
A soy update. I tried the miso paste Monday am and all was ok. Tried it again.(1/3 tspn) with dinner on Wednesday night and whoa...I'd forgotten that horrible pain. I was useless all of Thursday and most of the night. I had to cancel all my plans for the day.
Safe to say no soy will pass my lips (excpet traces in food) for a long time to come if ever at all.
Oh well I'll try green peas over the weekend.

Am buying set of digital scales next week for great accuracy.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
