Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
So it's not just the acidity of the coffee itself or the caffeine to be worried about. Google something like "coffee acid secretion" for the research papers on this.
I've never heard about a cold brewing technique overcoming this, but I might be wrong...
I guess I'm lucky that I was never a coffee drinker before gastritis struck, so I don't have the urge to find a safe way to drink it.
It does seem to be the holy grail for many though!
I even thought of crushing caffeine pills and putting them into time release capsules. Problem is, I have no idea where I'd get those. I Googled it and just ended up on some druggie forum...
Also have licorice tea. I don't tolerate chamomile tea too well which is bizarre.
