Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I had stomach pain and a variety of symptoms since May 2019. Last summer I found I had H pylori infection and went on triple medication for 7 days. After this I still had persistent symptoms and could not cope with emotional distress. I had decided to have an endoscopy, which showed I have medium gastritis and a tiny hernia. I was devastated and peychologically I was low. I went on a course of new medication, but still the symptoms are there. To be honest, I have not followed the specialist’s advice accordingly. The variety of food for gastritis is very limited. I tried a couple of weeks, felt a bit better, but stil have the pain and upper abdomen discomfort. I may consider to have done a surgery. I am concerned that whole my life I will need to be on medication and special diet. It is very upsetting. I am on waiting list for psychological services as I find hard to cope with the illness itself and I need motivation to change my eating habits.
