Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
But please be careful, i would stay longer on both meds and still not eating bad food or drink coffee.
My plan is to stay on the Ami for the months to come, perhaps upping to 10mg, if needed (right now I split the pill in half).
The Dexilant has to go soon, definitely need to taper down. How soon, I can't tell... I can try and see what happens, then run back to the full does if it's a disaster.
I'm staying clear of spicy food, and raw onions, etc... I've eaten "bad" foods too early before, and know the consequences... I realized that I'm okay with cooked onions after the local deli shop confirmed it's in all their soups.. which I've been eating all spring long with no ill effects...
How have you been doing?
My sensitivity is much reduced. I have been up to 100mg before but I wouldnt advise it, it led me to get chronic constipation and slows stomach emptying.
I'm feeling okay, usually no pain! But still on diet.
I figure the effect's been taken, since I am extremely drowsy and tired - so something *is* happening.
Glad you guys are better, it's nice to have good news for a change !
I might want to try this go to a psychologist explain my case and maybe get a prescription. I got a condition much worse than gastritis/heart issues its not painful but very worrysome how ill end up someday or soon lol and makes me worry every single day like you have no idea probably this is not making my gastritis heal properly an antidepressant would probably help in all departments.
I remember when being hospitalized last year i was forced on nexium for gastritis and antidepressant and other stuff, I ate like a horse those 2 weeks I was hospitalized and gained 10 pounds or so. It wasn't just the nexium now that I remember.
Thanks for reminding us.
Getting off that dose was quite tough with regards to sleep I have to say, I had many a sleepless night weening off it.
This is a weird question. Any of you guys notice grey hairs in relation to antidepressants? I found my first today :(( I guess I'm trying to make myself feel better and blame it on the meds, not that i'm getting old, haha. But seriously, some guy posted somewhere that he was 25 and started getting grey hair on a low dose of amitryptiline, just SO weird.
I want to make a poster of this & stick it on my wall!
I was prescribed it for my MS pain and sleep but have been afraid to start taking it. My reason is because a lot of new meds give me weird side effects. The worst one is an increased heart rate. I'm always afraid it will happen and I won't know what to do to reduce it quickly. I know... crazy!
Reading this has helped to give it a chance. The problem is I have been taking a half Klonopin at night for a couple years and I'm not sure how to switch the meds to Amitrip.
Has anyone had any side effects?
I wouldn't be too worried about a racing heart, as other have said the main side effect is drowsiness, it is a kind of sedative effect so kind of the opposite to a racing heart. I found it helped with depression as well but at a much higher dose than taken for pain.
My main side effect was the tiredness, which I did adjust to after a few weeks but I still had to take it early evening, if I had it too late it was harder to get out of bed in the morning.
The constipation was a big problem for me but only really happened above 25mg dose. Other than that I didn't have any side effects
