Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I get different reactions with probiotics - mos brands upset my IBS first which then impacts on my tum afterwards.
Also consider if the burning could have a different cause, eg, acid rebound hypersecretion from recently coming off a ppi.
@shihonage: That's exactly what I thought, it's harmless. I don't take it directly after meals to be precise. In between breakfast and lunch and at bedtime. I'll try it for a couple more days and see how it goes.
"Smilelike: If it were from coming of PPI I imagine it would have happened sooner not almost a week later? I took PPI for such a short time though, I didn't think it would cause any side effects coming off it?
eg, Omeprazole can still be present & working in the body to some extent even a week after quitting. So you can get the peak of rebound acid maybe 2 weeks later.
There's lots of scientific studies about acid rebound hypersecretion & I haven't particularly reviewed/analysed them in great detail. Here's one if anyone is interested in this sort of stuff...

i take 2 slippery elm and one pepzin gi before i eat, twice a day...
Last night ate dinner early, took PepZin just before bedtime and no heartburn!
As shihonage advised, PepZin shouldn't be taken directly before/after food. It should actually be taken in between meals. Maybe you'd wanna try that?
