Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
As for salmon perhaps its just too much for your stomach to handle.I eat fish 3 times per week but I alternate between salmon, cod and trout. That seems to work for me just fine.
So, I was eating mostly lacto-ovo vegetarian on those days.
Tbh, I don't know how the things work. Sometimes I can eat brown rice, mung beans with tomato sauce, tomatoes and even onions! without any prob. Sometimes spring water even can hurt!
What the hell is this exactly?
I can even eat any fast-food meal sometimes.
I would be careful with fastfood, though. The stomach reaction is often delayed.
Just try to eat healthy if you can.And definitely SLOW not fast food:)
My fave meal is brown rice (with coconut oil'd) and any kind of beans (with tomato sauce, tomatoes and onions) but that meal is not suitable for gastritis, right? That meal hurts sometimes and sometimes it doesn't as I said before but most of fruits really hurt. I can tolerate a few of berries with my overnight oats and citrus fruits tho, that's weird fact.
As a result, I really don't know how must I do.
I can go for lacto-ovo vegetarian camp but it seems it does not suitable for gastritis (fruits, raw veggies and tomato products) I can go for basmati rice, chicken breast, cooked veggies (what about steamed broccoli?) but I really don't like those foods.
Well, I'm eggiovore, legume-maniac, tomato-onion addict and believe that vegetarianism is the best way to get healthy, at least in modern world. (we evolved to eat meat of course but I just don't trust meat industry, that's what I mean)
But I need to get rid of that disease firstly.
So what do you recommend for me?
Gastritis even mild can make you feel terrible. The doctors have no clue.
Stick to very plain food.
There are a lot of posts on diet here and what works. Check some older posts. fruit is usually bad and many veggies are too. No spices etc or onion and garlic etc..
plain plain plain. salmon is not good for many people. plain chicken is better or soy, tofu.. oatmeal is good for most and plain bread.. white rice.. broccoli is not good usually.. steamed spinach carrots and kale and sweet potatoe usually work well.
Get used to changing your diet in a big way.
It is a trial and error process
Nevertheless, fruits, tea, salmon, sometimes even white rice! give me a pain.
Weird fact: I can drink COKE without any prob.
I know recommended foods for gastritis. I can keep strict my diet of course but I'm just not sure it'll work or not. Never tried of it tho.
So, basmati rice and boiled chicken breast with cooked veggies (asparagus, carrots, green beans, spinach, chards etc) are perfectly suitable for gastritis. I can eat that meal two times a day.
As a result,
Eggs a few bites of goat cheese and toast
Basmati rice chicken breast and cooked veggies (excluding tomatoes, onions and broccoli/cabbage family)
Same meal as above
And again, eggs, goat cheese and toast
It seems not healthy to me but I think it's good for gastritis.
Any idea?
Also I have to say that,
I was taking rhodiola rosea 500 mg a day for anxiety (since a week) but was feeling extremely nauseous last 3-4 days and this morning I almost throw up. I insist rhodiola cause I've tried to take Prozac before and it made me very nauseous before. I definitely quit it now.
Well, I was pretty good 3-4 months ago and when I added salmon to my daily plan, problems started again with it as I said above. My meal plan were at those times, I remember,
Oats, yogurt, just 4-5 raspberries, milk kefir
Egg cheese bread, milk kefir
Brown rice with lentils or chickpeas (plain)
And same meal
Know that beans should be avoided but what about lentils and chickpeas?
Basmati rice and chicken breast seem better tho. Just asking about it.
Well, ok then. I'll keep my diet strict.
Mostly white rice, chicken breast, cooked veggies and bread, maybe a few bites of goat cheese, eggs, potatoes.
Any recommendations on this?
Also checked some older postst and see that many ppl suffer from gastritis even for years! Wow.
Meal 1 - 4 slices of toasts, a few bites of goat cheese, 2-3 whole eggs
Meal 2 - White rice, chicken breast, cooked veggies
Meal 3 - White rice, chicken breast, cooked veggies
Meal 4 - Quinoa, cooked veggies
Veggies are mostly carrot, zucchini, sweet/white potatoes, spinach, green beans, swiss chards, eggplant and asparagus.
5 gr glutamine daily. No any other supps.
Beans are mostly no-no but what about lentils and chickpeas? Brown rice?
most have never had gastritis. they dont have experience with managing it well. Trust yourself not what the doctors are telling you.
gastritis is not a minor issue and can lead to more serious things. it can also become chronic if you dont manage it well. You are not the first person to get lousy help from a doctor.
SO keep doing the hard work now.
Anxiety can continue the symptoms for a long time, no matter what you do. If you have anxiety, a lot of stress or PTSD. Get some help for that as well.
Patience is part of this process. figure out what you can eat and then stick to it. Expect it to take 6 months or longer if you dont have anxiety.
