which is why i sent the letter and referenced this site. I'm posting it snail mail to the National president and emailing a copy to each state or territory president. I hope one of them will open their minds and learn something. I've learnt more on my own, just as you have.

Maybe they will maybe not Ive learned that the medical world doesnt consider gastriits to be THAT big of a deal unless it gets out of hand and even ulcers they dont consider real big, it's like you have to get to the point of gastro cancer to get any notice for it. Ive learned its a brushed off illness and considered minor and ever so curable ...which Ive yet to see for myself. Best of luck with them!

I have a friend who is a magazine editor and she's going to knock it into shape for me. I just want the medical profession to hear our pain and hopefull be better informed. I'll let you know if I hear anything back from them. I do hope so.

I've had two replies to my letter. The WA and Victorian presidents acknowledged my letter and the Victorian (my state) said she'd pass the information on to GPs in her section of general practice.
Maybe now a few more doctors will have better information to help their next gastritis patient.

thanks raven. I did it for all of us. Even getting the responses I have makes me feel we're not alone in the wilderness any more. I'm working on a condensed version to put into medical mags. An editor friend has culled it and taken reference out of my regime and reference to my naturopath. what are your thoughts on chopping out those bits?

I think for the the whole medical magazine, they probably are going to want more of the factual information and the lack of nutritional information that is available for people in our circumstances. You could suggest that while medical treatment is vital in the diagnosis and maintaining nutritional balance, at the same time alternative treatments such as yoga, etc. has proven to be effective especially since stress has such a dramatic effect on the healing situation and long/short term prognosis.

yeah i agree. my friend's version of the letter misses the point i'm trying to make and the message i'm trying to get the world to learn.

What's the worse that they can do, honestly? If they want a re-write or an edit in order to publish, they will ask you directly. And I think personally, the voice of experience is exactly what publishing in a medical journal is all about. I was just joking today that I must be incredibly precious to my iDD doctor., since he told me that they have never seen a case like mine. Medical Journal, here I come!

What you are doing is a great thing. Don't be distracted or put off by her suggestions and only make the edits if you think apply. Gastritis in itself is not unknown, the post- treatment is. Or more so, the lack of knowledge that is provided once we are diagnosed. Stick with you gut. You are already on your way. Go for it.
