Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
By the way, It's weird how you can involuntarily make a face when something is drilling your mind.
Anyway the thing is that i won't go to ppi's anymore
I am not sure how much weight I've lost because I was already losing weight through diet and exercise before this started (I never weighed myself, just went by my clothes size) but including the dieting part, I'd say about 30 pounds, so probably 18-20 pounds from gastritis/gerd. I was 40 pounds overweight, so I was lucky in that regard because I had room to lose. I can imagine how stressful it would be if you were normal weight and lost a lot. I had an ignorant doctor who didn't think gastritis could cause weight loss and so that stressed me out. I don't want to lose weight too fast from here on, so one thing I have been doing is eating lots of chicken and tuna salad with lots of mayonnaise. That's something I like and it doesn't make me sick or have pain. I guess it's trying to find stuff that you like and can tolerate and trying to eat it every 2 hours or so. I also love coconut macaroons, so I eat three a day. I don't think that's too much sugar. I eat lots of sushi, but sushi is so low fat and calorie that I now get the "fried" sushi, which is really baked with tempura, so it doesn't bother my stomach, but it has about 550 calories a roll versus 150 calories per roll of regular sushi. I also try and eat at least 1/2 avocado a day. It's good for the tummy and is full of good fats.
I hope you feel better.
I've had bariatric surgery. I've got severe insulin resistance. Both mean to maintain or lose weight I must eat protein almost exclusively (and some veg).
I can't get either down well. All that does go down is loaded with carbs so I've put 22 lbs back on since this started in Aug 2012.
As far as gaining, since ice cream and pudding have put this back on me I'd say head to there. If you can't have dairy there are substitutes.
