Sorry to hear about your husband. Hope he is doing better.

I just found out my husband has stomach cancer, he is 50 yrs old. I haven't been on this site in a long time, I used to go to the depression forums, now all of that seems so trivial. We have learned it's not very common in the USA 22,000 cases a year. This puts a whole new perspective on life for us. We will get thru this.

Hi JennS & Carolyn; Sorry to hear that your husbands has this Cancer, but keep your heads up and be postive, I found out last Nov 2011 and on 30 Nov I had my entire stomach removed, my ballbladder, and part of my esophagus removed, plus 30 Lynph Nodes removed, of the 30, 23 had already Cancerus.. After I recorved, I tryed Chemo, but at my age (78, then) my body could not take it, so I quit chemo. Here I am a year later and still doing fine. Find a good Surgean that is not afried to look around and remove what he thinks might be a place for this Cancer to hide. If I canhelp you in any way, just ask away. Robley.

My father had stomach cancer at age 79 a few years ago. However, it was due to lymphoma. I don't fully understand the difference. His stomach was removed, but I felt the doctor might have gone overboard...also removing his appendix, spleen, gallbladder, part of his pancreas and I think something else, but I can't recall. He had little to no pain. He did have a bad attitude. He was frightened. He wouldn't let people help him. He did not do well. I admire you greatly for your positive attitude and willingness to help others. I have very different and often difficult health problems, and naturally they are troubling. I will keep a positive attitude. so glad you are doing well! Blessings.

You should have your husband check to see if he has H-pylori.. Just a feeling.. Google this. I was tested positive for it the end of January. I had a mom an a niece die from Stomach cancer after they were tested positive for this H-pylori.. It is like a pre-cursor for stomach cancer and if caught soon enough you can get anti biotics to make it inactive.. can turn into a ulcer because it eats the lining in your stomach.. As I said google it and if you think you have it ask your dr. to do a blood test to see if you have it.. a two minute blood test and they can tell if you do.. Could stop all or this that you are going through...

hello , hope your husband is doing ok. does he have a gist by any chance? that's what I had, it is a rare form of cancer.

It's been a long time since I've been here. My husbands stomach cancer mets to his liver stage 4 surgery was not an option. Aside from some side affects from chemo he was doing great until July 2015. Over the winter he was able to go on a clinical trial for a targeted therapy. Unfortunately ct showed growth and he was put back on chemo. Well that wasn't working anymore. The oncologist said that it was great the first line chemo worked so well for so long and that some people have to try several to get one that works. So he was put on a 2nd line chemo but has been having severe lower abdomen pain & nausea. Nothing is working to aliviate this. Tuesday they gave fluids because he's down to 175lbs originally 220lbs. They said his calcium is high and could be causing a lot of issues.
Through all of this he insists on going to work although we discussed disability at the doctors office. He went back Thursday for bloodwork and more fluid. He ate a can of soup for dinner last night.
I try to remain hopeful it was so much easier when he was tolerating chemo and I was able to block it out of my mind.
I pray the Lord does not let him suffer so long. Watching my husband suffer like this is the worst thing I could ever imagine.
Thee is nothing I can go but try to stay strong and pray.

Hii Jenns.. How's your husband now? I know Its really a tough time for him and you too. My cousin is also having stomach cancer but he is recovering good that's why i know how you are feeling now. Don't be panic stay calm everything will be good. We are operating my cousin in one of the reputed centers for cancers. If you wish you can also contact to them. They are really supportive, my family was in real shock when they got the info about this. But doctor there advice them not be panic they will trying their best.
