I went to my first Zumba class last night. I LOVED it! I was a little concerned because the friend I went with is about 15 years younger than I am and not overweight, never has been overweight. She emailed me several times yesterday with tips for the class - wear light clothes as the class is in the cafeteria of a local church and it doesn't have A/C -- bring plenty of water, bring a towel because I will get sweaty - and I may want to quit half way through but just keep going LOL. I told her that she should never be hired to do PR for Zumba, LOL.
She picked me up and I was nervous. It was hot in the room. But the class was AWESOME!! I did sweat but not like I used to before I lost weight. There were times I must have looked like a total spaz because I really don't have much rhythm, LOL but I did the entire hour, I didn't get winded at all . I felt great afterwards and I feel great today. Can't wait for next Wednesday. The class is actually on Mondays and Wednesdays, but Monday is my yoga night and I love that too.
I am ten months out from surgery today (9/25/12) and I am starting to struggle and the weight loss has really slowed so I am hoping adding more exercise (I am terrible with exercise) that is fun will keep me motivated and get the weight loss moving again.

Congrats on being able to keep up with the class! Be careful, though....zumba can be addictive!! LOL

I've tried it twice now. Can't say I love it. By the time my brain figures out what the instructor is doing and starts to tell my body what to do, she's moved on to another move. I would decide I could quit after the next song. But then I'd just roll my eyes, take a drink of water and go on. I want to try the Aqua Zumba next.
