So I am in day four of the South Beach Diet that my surgeon put me on for the next six months. I must say at first I was unsure of it because it calls for eating far more food than I have become accustomed to in my dieting adventures. My mind is still in the eat way less to lose weight. So this is really messing with my head. However, I must admit that my blood sugar numbers are finally coming down which I would have thought the opposite to be true. I guess that even if I don't lose weight at least I will be getting my body healthier and stronger for the surgery.

I did Medifast & at first it is hard but usually after 3 or 4 days, your body get's used to it. Good luck.

It's great that you have found an eating plan that is working for you. If your blood sugars are coming down you know it is healthy and keep on with it. The south beach diet is low carbohydrate/low sugar which is good preparation for after surgery. The head issues are the hardest thing in this process, so learning how to deal with the big changes now will also help you post-op. You are on your way....

That's a great plan to follow pre-op. Plus you will probably find some good recipes that you can use post-op. Hang in there. It will get easier.

well since I have to drive two hours one way every month to check in with the doctor for the next six months my husband and I have decided we will make a weekend thing once a month in place of a family vacation this year that way he can use his home time to go with me every month and then when I have the surgery he will have a weeks home time and a weeks vacation time for my recovery. This new diet is going to be easy once I get past the head trip about how much food I need to eat. I think in the whole of this diet that is going to be my biggest problem the head thing. But we all have our issues with food that we need to work through right? I have six wonderful months to get through mine I hope.

Hope for your continued sucess. I've heard good things about that diet so good luck to you..My nut still hasn't put me on a diet. But once I see the dietician (in May) then I will be put on something. I wish they would do it now though but at the same time..I don't have the money until next month to afford the protein stuff you need to buy. I have a big bottle a protein drink that is not bad but that is it. Best wishes to you.
